About Pantry Services

Ballard’s Pantry services are FREE and available to anyone and everyone.

The wealth of goods presented to individuals and families in crisis each day is available to anyone and everyone. Our pantry exists entirely through donations from heroes in our community, as well as grants. We are unique in the Lawrence community in the items we offer and the quality of clothing, shoes, work attire, kitchenware, household items, food, and diapers made available to anyone in need. Students, elderly, families or any individual is welcome!

There is a wide variety of programs and services available to those in crisis at Ballard. As we work to implement our mission of stabilizing families in Douglas County and Lawrence, we recognize that many of the residents are one life event away from devastation. Ballard wants to help those who are struggling and to see them through a catastrophe beginning to end.

To this end, we offer a variety of programs and services. Read further for more information on our Family Stabilization services, including the Mobile Food Pantry and Emergency Assistance with rent/utilities.

What We Provide

Clothing

Our pantry offers clothing, undergarments, socks, shoes, coats, jackets, and accessories all year round for men, women, and children. We also have all sizes of diapers and many personal care items, such as laundry detergent, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrushes, deodorant, and more. If you don't see what you need, please ask.

Household Basics

We have a variety of basic household items available by request, including pots and pans, small appliances, dishes and glasses, kitchen utensils, sheet sets, towels, and more. Inventory is variable; be sure to ask for anything you need.

Food

We do our best to keep non-perishable food items readily available in our on-site pantry. Ballard also sponsors a mobile food distribution at the Douglas County Fairgrounds main arena on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. Please check this website for the schedule, as exact dates can vary occasionally due to scheduling conflicts.

Professional Closet

This closet helps make sure having the proper clothing isn’t a barrier to employment. The pantry provides all types of work clothing, including suits, dresses, slacks, polos, scrubs, non-slip shoes, and work boots. Inventory is variable; always ask for anything you need.
