Full-Time Float Teacher/Office Assistant

(full-time, M-F 9:00 am-5:30 pm, $18-$20/hr.)

Essential Job Duties:  

  • Provide classroom coverage for staff breaks and supervision meetings. 
  • Be available to assist in classrooms as needed throughout the day. 
  • Cover the Education Center’s front desk when not in classrooms.  
  • Assist the CFO with tasks related to the collection and recording of tuition payments.  
  • Assist Education Director with various administrative tasks.  
  • Assist in classroom transitions: meals, snacks, nap, and bathroom breaks. 
  • Support classroom organization, maintenance, daily cleaning and closing duties. 
  • Ensure compliance with Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) requirements. 
  • Work collaboratively to maintain a positive, inclusive classroom culture and organizational culture that values learning and a commitment to quality, customer service and addressing community needs. 

Job Qualifications: 

Requirements within 30 days of employment include: 

  • First Aid/CPR certification (Ballard will provide if not already current) 
  • Negative TB test 
  • Satisfactory KBI Criminal Background Check 
  • 18 hours KCCTO/CAPE Health & Safety Foundations Course (Ballard will provide if do not already have proof of certification) 

Qualifications 

  • Previous childcare or early childhood education experience is required. 
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and supporting a diverse team of educators. 
  • Spanish-speaking preferred. 

Required Skills and Abilities:  

  • Detail-oriented 
  • Ability to think quickly, problem solve and effectively manage crisis situations 
  • Ability to work independently but also serve as a collaborating team member with Ballard staff and community volunteers 

Physical Demands:  

  • Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time  
  • Ability to concentrate on detailed information  
  • Ability to handle a variety of complex decisions (normal to above average range)  
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls  
  • Must be able to speak and listen effectively  
  • Vision abilities for close vision
