I checked in on Zach in the new building, and he’s a man with a lot to sort. Donations of food, clothing, and other items are coming into the new pantry building at lightning speed.  I asked Zach what tips he had for potential donors to make sure they are able to maximize the impact of their donations, and here’s what he recommended:

  • If you’re dropping off clothes for folks of different genders and ages, it’s helpful if you can sort them into bags accordingly. This helps speed up the time it takes to sort. So, separating by kids, adults, men’s clothes, women’s clothes, and unisex is super helpful.
  • If you’re unsure of what to donate, you can check out what Ballard is in need of HERE. This can save a ton of time (and driving back and forth).
  • Our donation hours are 10am- 2pm, so if you are able to donate during this time, it’s appreciated.
  • We don’t use wire hangers in the donation pantry, so if you have clothes on wire hangers, it’s super helpful if you could remove them before donating. This saves our donation crew time in sorting.
  • We love barrel drives. If you’re interested in hosting a drive for your business, church, organization, social club, or roving band of bar-crawling Santas, you can check in with the amazing Sarah Campbell at sarah.campbell@ballardcenter.org and she can hook you up.
