FRESH, FREE LOCAL PRODUCE

We had a great time last week opening a new chapter in Ballard’s history with our newest program, Growing Food, Growing Health. This amazing program mentors student leaders and gardeners in growing fresh, local produce, cleaning it, and providing it free of charge to our community.  Program Director Nancy O’Connor takes enormous pride in the work of these students as they connect to their community through leadership, service, and delicious vegetables.

If you’d like to sample some of the work of Growing Food Growing Health, please join us at the Ballard pantry (708 Elm Street) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2-4 pm for our open produce hours, where anyone in our community can shop our cooler and selection of produce. Clothing and hygiene appointments at the pantry are still by appointment only.

Big thanks to Nancy and the Growing Food Growing Health team!
