Economic Impact Report

How do you measure the impact that the Ballard Center has on the local community?

Inspired by the recent commitments to a 7% tuition model for our education program and a living wage initiative for all staff, our team set out to answer this question.

We examined what defines high-quality early childhood education and found that many elements of our holistic model including wraparound family and community services, trauma-responsive, relationship-based care, access to on-site therapies and low student-to-teacher ratios are high-quality drivers, and these drivers have profound impacts on both the child and the family. However, the impact is even more significant than we imagined. A safe, supportive learning environment for children ages two to five can shape outcomes that last a lifetime.

These positive effects extend beyond the classroom. For families and individuals experiencing adversity, those impacts can be deep and long-lasting, even carrying across generations. By providing stability, support, and access to resources, the Ballard Center helps address immediate needs, creating opportunities for child and family well-being.

These benefits ripple outward, strengthening individual families and the broader community. Investing in early childhood education is not just about preparing children for school; it is about building a stronger, more stable future.

Early childhood education is more than a simple social service; it is a strategic economic investment. By supporting children during their most critical developmental years and strengthening families through comprehensive services, the Ballard Center is helping to build a more stable, equitable, and economically resilient community.

Economic Report One-Pager

Every dollar spent on early childhood education, as the Ballard Center provides, returns $7.30 to our community. Get the quick facts on this one-pager, which we put together with the help of our friends at Bark Media.
